Cookie Policy

1. ABOUT THIS COOKIE POLICY

This Cookie Policy (the “Policy”) explains how Katori (“we”, “us”, “our”), uses cookies and other similar tracking technologies on / (the “Website”) and supplements our Privacy Policy.

The Policy describes:

  • what cookies and similar technologies are;
  • what types of cookies we use;
  • the purposes for which they are used; and
  • the choices available to you to manage your cookie preferences.

The Policy has been prepared in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), the ePrivacy Directive, and other applicable regulations. Where required by law, we obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.

By using the Website, you acknowledge that cookies may be used in accordance with the Policy and your selected preferences. You may withdraw or modify your consent at any time through the cookie settings available on the Website.

We may update the Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements, technology, or our use of cookies. Any updates will become effective upon publication on the Website. We encourage you to review the Policy periodically to stay informed.

2. WHAT ARE COOKIES

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (such as your computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device and store certain information about your preferences or actions over time.

We use both first-party cookies (set by us) and third-party cookies (set by service providers and partners), including cookies used for analytics, security, payment processing, and marketing purposes. Some of these technologies may track your interactions across different websites, devices, or sessions.

Cookies serve a variety of purposes. They are used to enable core Website functionality, such as shopping cart and checkout processes, improve user experience by remembering preferences, analyze how the Website is used and how users interact with it, support security, fraud prevention, and system integrity, deliver and measure marketing and advertising campaigns, and ensure proper attribution of visits, conversions, and affiliate activity.

Cookies may also be classified based on their duration and origin. Some cookies are session cookies, which are temporary and are deleted once you close your browser, while others are persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them manually. Cookies may also be first-party cookies set directly by us, or third-party cookies set by external providers such as analytics services, advertising networks, payment processors, or affiliate partners.

In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies (including local storage and session storage) such as pixels, tags, scripts, local storage, and server-side tracking mechanisms (collectively referred to as “cookies” in the Policy). These technologies are used to track user interactions across sessions, devices, or websites, measure performance, and support marketing and advertising activities.

Such tracking technologies may include, for example, pixel tags (also known as web beacons), which are small pieces of code embedded in web pages or emails that help us understand user interactions, such as page views or engagement with content, as well as scripts that enable real-time functionality and track interactions such as clicks, form submissions, and dynamic content behavior.

These technologies help us analyze the Website’s performance, measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, and provide a more tailored user experience. Where required by applicable law, such technologies are used only with your consent, except where they are strictly necessary for the operation of the Website.

These technologies may be used across different devices and browsers, including when you access the Website via mobile devices.

3. WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES WE USE

We use different categories of cookies depending on their purpose. These cookies support the operation of the Website, enhance user experience, analyze performance, and enable marketing and advertising activities.

3.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the operation of the Website and cannot be disabled in our systems. These cookies are required to enable core functionality, including maintaining your shopping cart and checkout session, processing payments securely, preventing fraudulent transactions, preserving session data across pages, and ensuring the proper functioning of order processing and system operations. Without these cookies, the Website would not function properly.

These cookies are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional Website and do not require your consent where permitted by law.

3.2. Functional and Security Cookies

Functional and security cookies allow the Website to provide enhanced functionality and ensure system security. These cookies may be used to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or malicious activity, enable secure payment processing through trusted providers, remember user preferences such as location or selected settings, and support dynamic Website features, including timers, localized content, or other interactive elements.

Some of these cookies may be set by trusted third-party providers supporting our infrastructure, security, and payment systems.

3.3. Analytics and Performance Cookies

Analytics and performance cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Website. They may collect information about pages visited, navigation paths, time spent on the Website, user interactions with specific features, offers, or checkout flows, and the performance of individual pages, such as landing pages or upsell pages.

We use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, or similar technologies, to improve Website performance, optimize user experience, and support business decision-making. Where required by applicable law, these cookies are used only with your consent.

3.4. Marketing and Advertising Cookies

Marketing and advertising cookies are used to track users across websites and devices, measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, deliver personalized or relevant advertisements, and optimize marketing performance and audience targeting. These cookies may be set by us or by third-party advertising partners, including social media platforms and advertising networks.

They may collect information such as advertising identifiers, device identifiers, campaign parameters (such as click IDs), and browsing behavior across websites or sessions. Where required by applicable law, these cookies are used only with your consent.

3.5. Affiliate and Campaign Tracking Cookies

Affiliate and campaign tracking cookies are used to identify the source of Website traffic, attribute orders and conversions to affiliates or marketing partners, store campaign parameters across sessions, and ensure accurate reporting and calculation of commissions. These cookies may be set directly by us or by third-party affiliate platforms and form an integral part of performance-based marketing and affiliate programs used in connection with the Website.

4. THIRD-PARTY TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

In addition to the cookies and tracking technologies set directly by the Website, we use services provided by third-party analytics, advertising, and marketing partners. These partners may place their own cookies or use similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, or scripts, when you interact with the Website.

These third-party technologies may collect information about your interactions with the Website and, in some cases, your activity across different websites, devices, or platforms. This information may be used for purposes such as analyzing Website performance, measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, improving services, and, where you have provided consent, delivering personalized content and advertising.

When we integrate third-party technologies into the Website, such as advertising pixels or analytics tools, we may be involved in determining how certain data is collected and transmitted to those providers. In certain cases, we and the third-party providers may act as joint controllers for the collection and transmission of your data. For further processing by the provider, they act as independent data controllers. However, once this data has been transmitted, the relevant third party processes it in accordance with its own privacy policies and may use it for its own purposes, including analytics, profiling, or targeted advertising.

You can manage or withdraw your consent to the use of third-party cookies at any time through the cookie settings tool available on the Website. In addition, many third-party providers offer their own opt-out mechanisms, which are described in their respective privacy policies.

For more information, you may refer to the privacy policies of some of the providers we use:

For further details on how personal data collected through cookies is processed, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

5. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Due to the global nature of our services, personal data collected through cookies and similar technologies may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries outside your jurisdiction, including countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), such as the United States.

Some of the third-party providers we use, including analytics, advertising, infrastructure, e-commerce, and payment service providers, may operate from or process data in jurisdictions that do not provide the same level of data protection as the EEA.

Where such international transfers occur, we implement appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection laws. These safeguards may include the use of Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms designed to ensure that your personal data remains protected.

In certain cases, additional technical and organizational measures may also be applied to further safeguard personal data during international transfers.

By consenting to the use of non-essential cookies, such as analytics or marketing cookies, you acknowledge that your personal data may be transferred to countries outside your jurisdiction as described in the Policy.

In certain jurisdictions, including under applicable United States privacy laws, the use of third-party cookies for advertising purposes may be considered a form of “sharing” of personal data.

6. PROFILING AND TARGETED ADVERTISING

We use tracking technologies to understand your shopping journey. This allows us to show you products that are actually relevant to you (e.g., retargeting ads for items you left in your cart). We do not use automated decision-making that would have legal or similarly significant effects on you, our profiling is strictly limited to enhancing your shopping experience and marketing relevance.

This may include:

  • analyzing your interactions with the Website;
  • measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns;
  • delivering personalized advertisements based on your interests;
  • retargeting users who have previously visited the Website;
  • optimizing audience targeting through advertising platforms.

We do not share your email address with advertising platforms for audience matching purposes. However, advertising platforms may independently process data collected through cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Where required by law, such processing is carried out only with your consent.

In certain jurisdictions, including some U.S. states, the use of advertising and tracking technologies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal data for targeted advertising purposes. Where applicable, you may opt out of such processing by adjusting your cookie preferences through the cookie settings tool available on the Website or by using any “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism made available on the Website.
